Objective Detection of a Tropical Cyclone’s Center Using Satellite Image Sequences in the Northwest Pacific

چکیده

A tropical cyclone (TC) is one of the most destructive natural disasters that can cause heavy loss life and property. Determining a TC’s center crucial to TC forecasting. It difficult locate during its formation stage dissipation period. To address this problem, novel objective algorithm called cloud motion wind (CMW) was proposed for detecting using infrared (IR) image sequences from geostationary meteorology satellite. First, optical flow model with weighted median filtering utilized build field. Second, density matrix method used calculate TC. FY-2E (Fengyun-2E meteorological satellites) IR images three TCs in Northwest Pacific, Halong, Rammasun Haiyan were analyzed algorithm. The present estimated track an averaged error around 41 km. Experimental results compared observed given by China Meteorological Administration (CMA) show provided accurate estimates center. has potential be employed assist forecasters detect imminent

Tropical Indian Ocean Influence on Northwest Pacific Tropical Cyclones in Summer Following Strong El Nino

In the summer following a strong El Nino, tropical cyclone (TC) number decreases over the Northwest (NW) Pacific despite little change in local sea surface temperature. Our analysis suggests El Nino-induced tropical Indian Ocean (TIO) warming as the cause. The TIO warming forces a warm tropospheric Kelvin wave that propagates into the western Pacific. Inducing surface divergence off the equator...

Analysis of changes detection in Gano coal mine area using satellite image from 2000 to 2020 (northwest of Damghan)

In coal mines, fires and explosions due to rising temperatures and high coal densities are the most likely hazards. Due to the looseness of the coal-bearing terrestrial layers, there are also risks of collapsing extraction tunnels. Therefore, in order to manage the risk in coal mines, the risk model in these areas should be studied periodically. The purpose of this study is to comprehensively s...

Detection of Coastline Using Satellite Image-Processing Technique

Extended abstract 1- Introduction  Coasts maintain their natural sustainability without human intervention and in spite of short-term changes, we are ultimately confronted with a coastal healthy environment, i.e. natural, rocky beaches, sandy beaches and so on. Today's use of remote sensing in most natural sciences is widespread. Due to the fact that fieldwork is costly and time-consuming, ...

The Pacific Meridional Mode and the Occurrence of Tropical 1 Cyclones in the Western North Pacific

30 This study investigates the association between the Pacific Meridional Mode (PMM) 31 and tropical cyclone (TC) activity in the western North Pacific (WNP). It is found that 32 the positive PMM phase favors the occurrence of TCs in the WNP while the negative 33 PMM phase inhibits the occurrence of TCs there. Observed relationships are 34 consistent with those from a long-term preindustrial co...
